All of our Roadbase products are made from crushed rock or crushed concrete sized around 20mm to 25mm and under. These products are used for driveways, hard stand areas, footpaths, building pads & bases for laying asphalt.

The Recycled CBR15 is the cheapest of the road bases. It is made from crushed concrete, brick & soil and is used predominantly as a screened compactable fill.

Our Natural Rock CBR15 is the perfect product for hard stand areas or driveways on a budget. It will have more clay content than the CBR45 and CBR80 roadbases. The colour of the natural rock will vary but is usually blue, brown or orange, or a combination of these colours.

The CBR45 (MRD2.3) & CBR80 (MRD2.1) are our top of the line roadbases, made from blue metal natural rock. They're the best options for driveways as they bind well, will hold up the best under traffic, perform better in wet weather & avoid erosion.

We also have Cement Treated Base (CTB), which is our blue metal roadbase, with 3% of cement blended into it. This needs to be spread and compacted within 4 hours of delivery.

The ratio to convert tonnage to cubic meters for road base products is roughly 2 tonne equals 1 cubic metre. For example, a full 13 tonne truck load of road base will cover around 6 to 7 cubic metres after compaction.

The abbreviations CBR (California Bearing Ratio) or MRD (Main Roads Department) stand for common compaction tests. They do not refer to the size of the rocks - all of our road bases are made from rocks sized 20mm & smaller.
